I heard somebody say that when a special edition comes out, the product often gets replaced. Maybe the next Zire will be as great as this one but with VG? RE: New Z?
It's probably too soon to look for a Zire 71 replacement from Palm. Let's hope that Palm does produce a 320x480 model before too long, but I imagine this wouldn't be until OS6. Thanks, robrecht RE: New Z?
No, this is just Palm trying to get a headstart on the back to school market. Since they won't (likely) have a new low-cost snazzy handheld to woo all of the kids in the Aug-Sept timeframe, this is their best shot-though I'd include some headphones or something with it to make it appeal more to those mp3-crazy kids.
We'll probably see a refreshed T|W rebadged as a data-centric Treo around early '04. The current T|W has just become quite a bit more appealing, if you simply must have a wireless unit, IMHO. They had fallen to ~$300 in the past few weeks from some e-tailers, so I figured something was up.
Has the Palm Economy matured or just become moribund? There used to be lots more news. And it was exciting. This is... well, I won't need Sominex if I think about this! RE: What's up -- or down?MobileMitch @ 6/30/2003 5:03:42 PM #
Oh I so agree. I used to check this site 2-3-4 times a day just like it says up at the top of the site but now... not much call for that. No interesting debates really, no interesting new products. Still no decent Palm pilots with VG (not counting the sony rubics cube flip screen bricks) RE: What's up -- or down?
I too used to check this site 2-4 times daily, but have over the last several months gradually dwindled my visits. In fact most of the news that gets posted here is already old on other sites (infosync, brighthand) and of course there isn't anything interesting to debate. So as it goes with internet sites... slowly they grow stale then moldy then we feed them to the ducks. RE: What's up -- or down?
VG? (Why do some people say you can kill two birds with one stone when it's hard enough killing one bird with two stones?) RE: What's up -- or down?
Virtual Graffiti. Sadly, I'd have to agree the news has slowed considerably, but I don't think it's just PIC. BrightHand and Infosync have little Palm OS news these days. I doubt the quality of content on either of those sites. Maybe it's just me. I'm sure the news is going to skyrocket in the next few months. OS 6 is going to be huge, and I'm sure we're going to be seeing a lot of rumors. This site still has the best rumors. *Cold One* Here's to bringing in new contributing editors. RE: What's up -- or down?
Hahaha! You know, I was just thinking yesterday, "Where is that dude who people thought was responsible for posting all those quickies?" Sure enough, the dude shows up. -Bosco RE: What's up -- or down?
When I posted that, I had about ten sites open and was moving between them. So if *he* is supposed to me fast, my God, I must be traveling back in time! Help me, abosco! RE: What's up -- or down?
My God. I have to go get a brain scan or some damned thing. My typing is not coming out of my fingers the way my mind expects it to. Damn, there's a typo in my last post I wanted to point out and correct, but now I forgot it. Calling the neurology dept... RE: What's up -- or down?greentruck15 @ 6/30/2003 6:12:41 PM #
I have a Tungsten T and I want to get a Zire 71, but I do not know if that is going backward or forward. I kind of want something new - Any comments or advice? RE: What's up -- or down?gfunkmagic @ 6/30/2003 6:21:13 PM #

Quote: "I used to check this site 2-3-4 times a day just like it says up at the top of the site but now... not much call for that." Sadly, I must agree. I wanna see something new on the front page every day, it can be anything. It doesn't have to be specifically industry orientated either. How abut some app reviews, editorials, new technology news, peripheral news like the printbrush printer etc! I keep contibuting news bits all the time, but they never seem to be used! *sigh* I'ld like to see this site become more lively again... -Pablo Picasso. RE: What's up -- or down?
here i am all right, bosco. i guess i got lost in the rest of the internet for a while. and i agree with the other statements about the lack of news. i don't know if it's the site itself, or just the lack of exciting palm news lately. RE: What's up -- or down?greentruck15 @ 6/30/2003 7:07:57 PM #
I just want either the t or the 71 out of those two I don't know which to keep, it is a delima because I do not want to pay 400+ for the T2, I don't need alot of internal memory..Which do you think is better..opinions RE: What's up -- or down?greentruck15 @ 6/30/2003 7:16:37 PM #
I was thinking it would have a better resale value also when the t2 comes out my tungsten t value will drop like a rock..so I think I should go with the 71..and I guess it would be a chick magnet as well RE: What's up -- or down?
>Damn, there's a typo in my last post I wanted to >point out and correct, but now I forgot it. Calling >the neurology dept... Oh man. I told you; you're losing it. >No one listening to *you* gfunk? Why is that, I wonder? Ouch! Chill! >and I guess it would be a chick magnet as well Not exactly.
RE: What's up -- or down?greentruck15 @ 6/30/2003 8:35:16 PM #
I beleive it would be a chick magnet, of course it helps if you are one already then the palm doesn't have to work so hard. RE: What's up -- or down?
"Geeks Discuss Which PDA Has Highest 'Chick Magnet' Effect" How's that for a headline? Sounds like something right out of The Onion. RE: What's up -- or down?
The messenger has nothing to report, since nothing is going on, but in line with an old tradition, let's kill him. This is like asking the NYTimes to start a war so that it will have something to put on the front page. radleyp RE: What's up -- or down?
Good idea! Shoot the piano player also while you're at it! Thanks, robrecht RE: What's up -- or down?
Funny, how that movie title got mistranslated. The actual French title is, "DON'T Shoot the Piano Player." radleyp RE: What's up -- or down?
We're not shooting PIC. We're shooting the P in PIC. Where's the effing 320x480 WiFied SGed PalmOS device already?!!? RE: What's up -- or down?
That's been out for about eight month's now. I'm guessing you want the NON clamshell version. Yeah, like I have to guess. I've heard you complaining about this more than ska complaining about native file formats. RE: What's up -- or down?
Mike, you've got a screw loose. I haven't seen so many spelling errors since the original SKA character in October! You might need my finger to poke your head a few times to get you back on track. RE: What's up -- or down?
It's that image Foo posted. It has done things to me. High heels? No, shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

That innopocket case looks nice for the zire 71, you can slide it while it is in the case..cons are it is for left handed people. That may be hard to adjust, this case may sway me to purchase the 71 - unless there is a better case.
